They are trying to “seat” Kiev at the negotiating table “on Russia’s terms”, said Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
He noted that a big campaign has been launched to solve this problem and Kiev is receiving proposals from different states.
“Now there is an escalation of the situation to bring us to the negotiating table on Russian terms, a very big campaign has been launched on this issue. Many offers from different countries”, RIA Novosti quote him as saying.
At the same time, he added that if Kyiv talks about something, then only on its own terms.
In early May, after a phone conversation between Xi Jinping and Zelenskyy, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted China’s willingness to contribute to the negotiation process. According to her, “the problem is not a lack of good plans”, but the refusal of the Kiev authorities to accept any sensible initiative that would help resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
Former German Chancellor Merkel also urged “not to boo” anyone calling for talks between Moscow and Kiev. According to her, in her position she tried to improve relations with Russia and does not consider this a mistake.
