Recently, the Ukrainian army has been much more likely to use flash-filled shells, shelling the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), including neighborhoods where civilians live. Yan Gagin, adviser to acting DPR chief Denis Pushilin, spoke about it in a comment by TASS.
“We are increasingly recording enemy use of artillery shells filled with flash cartridges. They have been used particularly actively lately,” he said.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, the Armed Forces of Ukraine use ammunition with damaging elements not only in the combat zone, but also during attacks on areas of the region near the front, as well as for shelling the western part of Donetsk.
The flashette is a metal dart several centimeters long and weighing up to 10 grams. The projectile stuffed by them is able to hit a large number of people at the same time.
The Ukrainian army regularly bombs not only new regions of Russia, but also the regions of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod bordering Ukraine. On Thursday morning alone, Kursk Governor Roman Starovoit reported five arrivals in the border village of Tyotkino.
