Washington: Indian-American Neera Tandon, who will soon take over as White House domestic policy adviser, said she is “excited” about her new role in the administration. Tandon, who specializes in public policy, will replace Suzanne Rice as the White House domestic policy adviser. Tandon (52) is the first Asian-American citizen to be appointed to this influential post in the White House. She is currently Senior Advisor and Staff Secretary to President Joe Biden.
“I am very excited about my new role at the White House and I am thrilled to be part of an administration that includes many AANHPIs (Asian American, There are Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander) leaders, there are many AANHPI women leaders… there are many leaders who represent a great diversity of our community.” Tandon served in both the Obama and Clinton administrations. She has also worked for the presidential election campaign and several think tanks.
