The decision to admit the youth team to the competitions to be held in 2024 was taken at a meeting of the board of directors of the International Committee of the “Children of Asia” Games, informs on May 11 BELTA referring to the leadership of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
Motivating the decision taken by the Games Committee, the NOC recalled that “Belarusian athletes successfully held the II Asian Children’s Winter Games at the beginning of the year in Kuzbass”, where they won a gold, five silver and five bronze medals.
In addition, the question of the admission of the team to participate in the VIII Asian Children’s Games in Yakutsk is due to the fact that the Republic of Belarus adheres to the mission of the games, which is to promote the Olympic values and develop sports for young people. .
And most importantly, according to the NOC, “children should be given the opportunity to compete with their peers from other countries, as such experience will undoubtedly serve them well in major sports”.
It remains to add that the summer sports games “Children of Asia” have been held every four years since 1996.
