A slight decline in Turkish exports in 4 months

Data from the Turkish Exporters Council showed that the share of the industrial sector in the total export volume was around 72%.

According to the data, exports of the industrial sector in the first third of the year amounted to about 58.196 billion, registering a decline of about 7.4%.

Turkey faces big economic challenges in light of high prices and the falling lira. Presidential elections are due to be held next Sunday, in which President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will face an uphill battle against the coalition of the opposition.

Seven industrial sectors recorded a new record in export volume, despite the decline in total exports due to local and international developments.

The sectors that have reached record figures are: the leather industry and its products, the automotive industry, electricity and electronics, machinery and its parts, jewellery, the defense and aerospace industries and air conditioning industries.

Exports of leather and its products amounted to around 716 million and 608 thousand dollars, while exports of cars and their parts amounted to around 11 billion and 310 million dollars.

Russia occupied the first place in the destination of Turkish exports of leather, with about 90 million and 183 thousand dollars, and machinery and their parts, with about 446 million and 91 thousand dollars.

Germany leads the list of Turkish exports of cars and their parts, with approximately one billion and 623 million dollars, and it also leads the list of exports of air conditioning products, with approximately 246 million and 113 thousand dollars.

In electricity and electronics, the UK imported around 501 million and $437,000, and in jewelry, the UAE tops the list with around 526 million and $444,000.
