Prigozhin was asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s remarks that the counterattack has been delayed because Ukrainian forces expect more help from the West.
He told Russian media that Zelenskyy was “dishonest” in saying the attack had not started yet.
“Unfortunately, they partially succeeded. Ukraine’s counterattack is progressing at full speed,” Prigozhin said.
He continued, “Ukrainian military units are approaching Bakhmut,” which has witnessed the fiercest battles of the Ukrainian war for months.
And on Wednesday, Prigozhin and the Ukrainian military said Kiev forces defeated a Russian army unit near Bakhmut, in a major advance for Ukraine in the fierce battle.
Prigozhin repeatedly accused senior Russian defense officials of not supplying enough ammunition to his forces in Bakhmut and blamed them for retreats into the field around the town.
