Russia will host a pilot project to change the levels of vocational education

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On certain issues of improving the higher education system”, according to which a pilot project will take place in 2023/24 and 2025/26 to change the levels of vocational education in the country: basic higher and special higher education, establishing a level of vocational education – postgraduate studies.

The duration of master’s programs in basic higher education, according to the document, will be from 4 to 6 years, master’s programs in special higher education – from 1 to 3 years (depending on the direction, educational profile , the specialties).

The pilot project will be implemented at the following universities in the country: Baltic Federal University. Kant, Moscow Aviation Institute, National Research Technological University (MISIS), Moscow Pedagogical University, St. Petersburg Mining University, Tomsk University.

Until June 30, 2023, project participants must develop and approve educational standards and requirements for educational levels, relevant educational programs for universities and postgraduate studies.
