Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced asymmetric measures in response to the seizure of the accounts of the embassy in Poland

The Polish Embassy in Russia no longer has access to its funds in Russian banks, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. According to the spokesperson for the diplomatic department, this decision was taken on the basis of the “principle of reciprocity”, since the accounts of the Russian embassy in Poland were blocked by the Polish prosecutor’s office.

In April 2023, the Polish prosecutor’s office seized money from the accounts of the Russian embassy and trade mission in the country, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, Sergey Andreev, reported.

Previously, the Polish prosecutor’s office had seized nearly $1.2 million, which was in the bank accounts of the Russian Embassy and the Rzeczpospolita Trade Mission. Warsaw explained the blocking of Russian accounts by an attempt to withdraw a large amount from the account of the Russian diplomatic mission in one of the Polish banks immediately after the start of the SVO.
