State Duma Deputy Mikhail Matveev said he was preparing a bill on deductions of 1% from coffee bills, which would go to the fund to help families of conscripts and the military.
“I am preparing a bill on levies of 1% on an account in a cafe/restaurant/nightclub towards a fund to help the families of the mobilized and the army. Such a kind of entertainment tax in wartime,” Matveev said on his Telegram channel.
The MP also pointed out that this surcharge is “not heavy”, plus it’s less than a regular tip, but it’s a huge sum across the country.
Earlier, it was reported that the State Duma offered to finance the special operation at the expense of super rich citizens and resource exporters. Mikhail Shchapov, the first deputy chairman of Russia’s State Duma Budget and Tax Committee, has proposed raising the luxury tax if it constitutes an additional burden.
