British newspaper ‘Daily Mail’ quoted Solskjaer as saying he advised the ‘Red Devils’ to sign Erling Haaland in 2018 for 4 million pounds, but the club refused.

The Norwegian manager coached the 22-year-old as a youngster, before the former switched to ‘Man United’ training, while the latter signed for Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

Solskjaer said: “I called Manchester United about 6 months before coaching the team and told them I had this striker (Haaland) but they didn’t listen to me.”

He added: “I asked for £4m just for Haaland, but they didn’t sign him.”

Solskjaer took over Manchester United in December 2018, while Salzburg agreed to include Haaland in August of the same year.

After Salzburg, Haaland wore the German shirt of Borussia Dortmund, then moved to English Manchester City.

Of note, Haaland, who tops the English Premier League’s top scorer list, was picked with 35 goals, and he also broke the record for a Premier League player in all competitions with 51 goals. .

Haaland recently won the Player of the Year award, given by the Sports Writers Association in England.
