Borrell threatened China with worsening relations with the European Union over its stance on Ukraine

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has threatened China with a deterioration in relations with the European Union due to disagreements over the situation around Ukraine.

According to him, relations between the EU and China will develop normally only if Beijing does not push Moscow to withdraw from Ukraine.

“We call on China…to play a constructive role in achieving a just peace,” Borrell said.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the unbalanced trade relationship with China is also an important problem in the relationship that needs to be corrected.

Earlier, Borrell announced that the European Union was ready to cooperate with China to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

In addition, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said that China’s involvement in the process of resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict could lead to the opening of “real negotiations” on Ukraine.
