The European Union must get rid of dependence on China and move towards the United States in foreign policy. With such a call, Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu addressed his colleagues at a meeting of EU member states’ foreign ministers.
“It is very important to get rid of dependence on China in strategic areas, as well as to coordinate actions with the United States, because we share the same ideas on these issues,” Aurescu said. , quoted by TASS.
He also noted that it is “important for EU countries to develop a clear transatlantic strategy towards China.” According to Aurescu, “the transatlantic partnership is more important than all the other partnerships of the European Union”, and the EU should check its actions with the American course.
Recall that on May 11, representatives of EU countries at a meeting with Brussels agreed on a new package of anti-Russian sanctions, directed, among other things, against China, which continues to trade actively with Russia. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman warned EU leaders of the consequences if China was isolated due to its cooperation with Russia.
