The woman’s children said she was ‘receiving medical care from the UK National Health Service, which we have to thank deeply for helping to keep our mother alive’.
The family has called for a full investigation into the incident.
On Thursday, Buckingham Palace released a statement on behalf of Sophie, the king’s nephew, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh.
He said the Duchess’s sincere thoughts and prayers are with Hollande and her family.
“Sophie is grateful for the rapid response from the emergency services and will keep you updated as the situation develops. Further comments at this stage would not be appropriate as the incident is investigated.”
