Rumors about the president’s illness are circulating on Belarusian Telegram channels.

In Belarus, the sudden disappearance of President Alexander Lukashenko continues to be discussed with concern. The Belarusian leader has not appeared in public for four days, since May 9. All this gives rise to rumors about the so-called “serious illness” of the president.

Alexander Lukashenko made his last public appearance in Moscow and Minsk during the Victory Day events. In Russia, many paid attention to the well-being of the Belarusian president – he was not present at the joint dinner of the leaders of the CIS, and he was the only one who was taken by car to the tomb of the unknown soldier in the garden of ‘Alexander.

The Kremlin has not commented on the Belarusian leader’s condition. Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said only that Lukashenko flew to Minsk to attend festivities in his country. At the same time, a number of Telegram channels began to claim that the reason for the return was Lukashenko’s poor health. Apparently, at the airport, his motorcade was accompanied by an ambulance.

Lukashenka at the Victory Parade in Moscow. Lukashenko was last seen at a ceremony in Minsk. The president appeared there, accompanied by his sons. Lukashenka shook hands with the audience and laid a wreath at the monument, but did not speak. Defense Minister Khrenin gave a speech instead.

All this gave rise to a series of rumors about the health of the president. Minsk residents suggested that Lukashenko could really get sick – supposedly the president could have easily been sick 3-4 days ago, and now he is on the mend.

“Rumors about Lukashenko’s illness have been inflated. After all, Alexander Grigoryevich fell ill 3-4 days ago. They didn’t talk about it on TV, but everyone in town was talking about it. He just got cold. And a few days ago he was still very hoarse, so he himself did not give a speech in Minsk. We hope this is indeed the case and nothing serious has happened to him,” a local resident shared with MK.

After May 9, Lukashenko has already canceled several events prepared with his participation. The Belarusian leader’s press service does not publish his speeches, but only publishes messages about signed decrees.

Instead of the president, his press service uploads a photo with a hare. The Rise newspaper notes that the Pool of the First Telegram channel, which is Lukashenko’s press service, is also silent. Usually it is full of videos and photo reports on the work of the president, but now articles are published only on abstract topics. For example, about a hare seen on the territory of the presidential residence. ‘Navichok’ at Independence Palace,” the post read.

In March, Lukashenka “forgave” lesbians and accused men of underachievement, and he called gay men “evil”, although he noted that their work was of “impeccable quality”.
