America: A powerful storm hit the US state of Texas in the early hours of Saturday, killing one person and damaging several homes. The authorities have given this information. The tornado hit Cameron County. At least 10 other people were hospitalized, two of them in serious condition, said Tom Huschen, the county’s emergency management coordinator. Several residents have also received minor injuries.
Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. also imposed a nighttime curfew in the area. Under this, people who do not live there are banned from visiting Laguna Heights. The storm came at about four in the morning. At that time people were sleeping in their homes. Cameron County has the highest poverty rate in Texas and the condition of houses there is also poor.
Trevino said 42-year-old Roberto Flores died after being buried under the rubble of his mobile home. According to the weather service, the storm had sustained winds of 138-177 kilometers per hour and was classified as an EF1 hurricane. The storm came for about two to four minutes but it devastated the entire area.
