Turkey begins presidential and parliamentary elections News

Polling stations will be open until 5:00 p.m. Turkey’s High Election Commission (YSK) informs that more than 191,000 ballot boxes have been placed across the country. It is known that 60.7 million Turkish citizens have the right to vote (we are talking about those who live inside the country), while women have a slight advantage in this matter: more than 30.7 million Turkish women will be able to vote.

Voting for Turkish citizens abroad is already over: it took place from April 27 to May 9. It was attended by 1.8 million Turkish citizens outside the country.

Notably, in Sunday’s election, Turkish voters were banned from carrying a phone or camera when entering the voting booth. The newspaper reports Hurriyet . Violators of this rule are subject to a fine. Also, voters cannot put anything other than a completed ballot in the ballot envelope – otherwise the voter’s vote will not be counted.
