China’s South-to-North Water Transfer Project Group Company announced on May 14 that the first phase of the east and middle line of the project has transported more than 62 billion cubic-meters of water to northern China, including ecological water- There is about 10 billion cubic-metres of water for supply. The first phase of the East and Central Lines of China’s South-to-North Water Transfer Project began full water supply in December 2014. Annual water-supply volumes have continued to increase since then, directly benefiting more than 150 million people in more than 280 counties and districts in 42 large and medium-sized coastal cities. Currently water transported from South China accounts for 75 percent of the urban water supply in Beijing and 99 percent of the urban water supply in Tianjin.
According to the news from a related meeting held by the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources recently, the digitization, networking and intelligent capabilities and levels of operation and management of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project will be improved in the future, achieving water The development of water-saving industries in the affected areas will be supported, and the future high-quality development of the project will be promoted.
