Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Economist: Putin expects elite war

Various elite groups begin a fierce fight against each other.

This was said by economist Mikhail Khazin, according to the DEITA.RU news agency with reference to the “Moscow speaks” radio station.

According to him, the main clash is now between the security forces and the liberals. The former still win, notes the expert, however, the positions of the latter are still very strong due to the baggage they have managed to acquire since the beginning of the 90s.

The fact that the former completely control the entire financial sector prevents the security forces from finally defeating the liberals. Their rapid elimination could lead to the paralysis of all business life in the country and problems with public administration, Khazin notes.

That is why, as the expert said, Russian President Vladimir Putin, who heads an elite group of security officials, needs time to replace the entire liberal elite with new people – mostly patriots and statesmen.
