In the coming weeks, France will train and equip several Ukrainian battalions with dozens of armored vehicles and light tanks, including the AMX-10RC. This is indicated in a joint declaration by France and Ukraine, published on the Elysée website.
In addition, France has focused its efforts on supporting Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, the statement said. Beyond its national contribution, France actively participates in the activities of the European Union and NATO.
The press release also indicates that Paris will continue to provide “political, financial, humanitarian and military support to Ukraine for as long as necessary, individually and within the framework of international cooperation with the European Union, NATO, the United Nations and other organizations”.
Ukraine and France agree on the need to increase collective pressure on Russia through new sanctions in order “to weaken the capacity of this country to continue unlawful aggression”, the document states.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the security architecture in Europe should exclude confrontation with Russia, as well as provide guarantees for Ukraine’s security. At the same time, he called military assistance to Kyiv the main task of Europe today.
