The family, which raises the dog “Bobi”, organized a party on the occasion of his birth on Saturday at their home in the Konqueros region, in the south of the European country.
Lionel Costa, the dog’s owner, said the family had invited more than 100 people to attend the dog’s birthday and celebrate his “long life”.
He added that “Bobi” gets a lot of attention, since he was included by “Guinness” in the list of records as the oldest dog in the world.
Costa mentioned the arrival of many tourists and journalists in the Portuguese city, in order to take a photo with the dog, which has become a star in the region.
The “Crowned” dog is descended from a local breed of dogs and is the type that guards stores and facilities, but Bobi’s abilities have diminished with age.
Costa added that the dog no longer walks as it used to and his vision has also diminished due to complications from old age.
Asked by the breeder about the secret to the dog’s long life, he replied that the reason probably lies in the calm lifestyle and tranquility enjoyed by the area.
On average, dogs live 10 to 13 years, which roughly equates to 60 to 74 years in human life, knowing that factors such as lifestyle, diet, and breeding can affect their lifespan.
