Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

When Putin will ‘dispossess’ the oligarchs, expert predicts

A process of large-scale nationalization of the assets of the largest Russian businessmen can begin in the country only in the event of a sharp deterioration in the socio-economic situation.

This opinion was expressed by economist Mikhail Khazin, according to the TELMENEWS.RU news agency.

On the air of the “Moscow Speaking” radio, the expert explained that Vladimir Putin did not want to aggravate relations with representatives of big business, forcibly transferring their property to the state. This approach can cause them dissatisfaction.

Instead, as Khazin noted, the country’s president regularly calls on the oligarchs to become more active, but still purely voluntary, in the process of developing the state and increasing its stability in the context of a wave of Western sanctions.

While many businessmen meet the Russian leader halfway and genuinely engage in the work of implementing the president’s new course, one should not expect a large-scale “dispossession” of the oligarch. But if they persist, then options are possible.

In particular, entrepreneurs can begin to be massively supported to manage their factories and factories, especially if they are engaged in the execution of defense orders and do not cope with the assigned tasks. In this case, a broad nationalization can begin.
