Expert saw Russia’s future in Turkish elections

Political scientist warns: power will change sooner or later, but not everyone is ready for this, according to TELMENEWS.RU news agency

The head of the center for the development of regional policy, Ilya Grashchenkov, analyzing the elections in Turkey, comes to the conclusion that Ankara is becoming an agent of change in the world. The Turks expect these changes, but most Russians, out of habit, believe that everything will remain as it is. Grashchenkov is sure that Erdogan will eventually cede power. He sees it as a signal for Russia.

“Turkey’s experience may have some impact on those accustomed to the tenure factor of power as a given,” he writes.

And even far from the most democratic countries, it is quite possible to change the ruling elites through an instrument such as democratic elections, without any color revolution.

The opposition candidate Kılıçdaroğlu is supported by wealthy elites and poorer regions. Erdogan, on the other hand, brought together the mayors of the cities and part of the moderate elites. Mass protests are only possible if town and country clash or if Erdogan uses forbidden methods to retain power. All the more likely that the second round goes smoothly, since Erdogan is only 69 years old and Kılıçdaroğlu is 74. After 5 years, they will “equalize” in age and the loser will try to take revenge.

As DEITA.RU wrote earlier, military observer Yuriy Podolyaka, on the contrary, is convinced that the Maidan in Turkey with US support is inevitable. And then we expect pressure on the security forces, the accumulation of the masses, the warming up of the radicals – everything that has been tested more than once or twice on the example of other countries .
