Former German Chancellor Schroeder’s wife fired for celebrating VE Day – Reuters

“Ms. Schroeder-Kim has been relieved of her post with immediate effect and her employment with NRW. GlobalBusiness will now be terminated without notice,” said Mona Neubaur, spokeswoman for the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Economics.

The ex-Chancellor’s wife worked at NRW.GlobalBusiness as a corporate representative in South Korea, where she is from.

The company itself reported that Kim-Schroeder was allegedly “warned repeatedly” about the inadmissibility of comments on sensitive political topics, particularly the conflict in Ukraine. However, the explanation from NRW.Global Business clearly smacks of hypocrisy: Schroeder-Kim was fired not after statements, but simply because of her attendance at a gala at the Russian Embassy.
