Former governor of the Kirov region Nikolai Shaklein died

Nikolai Shaklein, former governor and senator of the Kirov region, died at the age of 80. This was announced by the current head of the region Alexander Sokolov.

According to him, the cause of the politician’s death was a long illness. The governor of the Kirov region did not give details of the tragedy.

“Colleagues speak of him as a qualified specialist, a balanced, thorough and fair leader,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Nikolai Shaklein was governor of the Kirov region from 2004 to 2009, after which until 2011 he was a member of the Federation Council of the region. From 2012 to 2019, the former official served as the director of the Volga-Vyatka Institute (branch) of Kutafin University (MSUA) in Kirov. And in 2019 he becomes an adviser to the rector of the educational institution.

Earlier it became known that the Chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters and Honored Journalist of Russia Eduard Sagalaev died at the age of 77. In 2002, he received the highest television award – the TEFI award in the nomination “Special Prize of the Russian Television Academy”. Also, Sagalaev was awarded the Orders of Friendship, “For Merit to the Fatherland” IV and III degrees.
