Alla Peregudova, head of the infectious diseases department of the NMIC FPI, advises drinking antibiotics for tick bites only under the supervision of a doctor.

In the spring, an insect can bite any person who is not sitting at home. A tick attack is fraught with infection from one of 20 different infections that can be in the saliva of an arthropod.

Immediately after finding a tick on yourself, you should go to the nearest hospital to remove it. You cannot do this on your own. There is a chance to leave the head of an insect in the wound.

The tick will be taken for analysis. The patient may feel symptoms typical of a viral illness: fever, weakness, chills, and nausea.

If the bitten tick turned out to be infected, then on the fifth day the patient is given specific immunoprophylaxis – vaccination – or prophylaxis with antibiotics. It is forbidden to take them on your own, only under the supervision of a doctor. AiF .
