Speaking to his counterpart, he noted that this was his first visit to the Republic of Belarus as governor, and said he was convinced that it would “quickly identify the needs, find the right suppliers and perhaps to sign new contracts”. According to Lukashenka, the Belarusian government is focused on providing maximum assistance to Russians.
In this regard, he recalled that during contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin, we constantly talk about deepening integration, industrial cooperation and, above all, import substitution. “You know, we’re doing pretty well. Even more than we expected,” the president said, recalling that anything that had to be agreed and signed by heads of state was basically done by governments. “A wide road has been opened to implement the ideas that we have assumed in the field of bilateral cooperation,” he explained.
By the way, according to official data, last year mutual trade reached its highest level since 2017, amounting to almost half a billion dollars, and increased by almost 20% from compared to 2021. And judging by the statistics, the agency says, even now trade and economic cooperation with the region is characterized by positive dynamics. Last year, the trading volume amounted to almost $414 million, which is 20% more than in 2021 and the largest volume since 2017. And in January-March of this year, the trend of the increase in mutual trade continues: 93.4 million dollars, or 32% more than the same period last year.
A similar trend is observed with regard to Belarusian exports, which last year amounted to 130 million dollars, having increased by more than 46% during the year.
