According to the World Obesity Atlas report, the island of Nauru has around 60% obesity, which puts it at the top of global obesity rates.

As for the Arab world, Kuwait comes first, with an obesity rate of 34%, followed respectively by Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Jordan ranked fourth for obesity rates in the Arab world, and the United Arab Emirates fifth, while Lebanon ranked sixth.

As for the world ranking of obesity rates in the rest of the Arab countries, it came according to the following gradation:

Bahrain, Libya, Iraq, Oman, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Yemen, Mauritania, Somalia, Comoros

The Obesity Atlas report called on all countries to “follow new and different solutions from the past, such as imposing taxes and restrictions on the production and marketing of unhealthy foods and products high in fat or high in sugars “.

Commenting on what was said in the report, nutritionist Razan Shweihat told Sky News Arabia:

“There is no need for higher obesity rates in rich countries…Yes, there is a correlation in terms of the ease of food availability in rich countries, which may contribute to an increase in obesity, but in poor countries like well, there is a lack of awareness and less official effort to intervene to reduce the spread of obesity.” obesity. “Not everyone who weighs less means they are healthier than others, so we are calling on people to aim for a healthy weight instead of the ideal weight, as anything below or above normal weight will be associated with to many diseases.” “A group of factors play a role in the prevalence of obesity in a country, including environmental factors in relation to the food available, and biological factors, as the DNA of people living in a specific geographic area is studied to see how ready their body is. are for obesity.” “There is also an economic factor that needs to be studied to reduce this problem in different countries.” “It is important to point out that the desire of some to feed their children more, believing that they will gaining weight and thus enjoying better health, is wrong, because it can lead to overweight and obesity in children.”
