The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine accused the commander of the Marines who surrendered the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to Mariupol of treason

Ukraine’s State Investigation Bureau has charged the head of the rear clothing department of the 501st separate marine battalion, which surrendered to the Russian army in Mariupol last spring, with treason, reports the Politika strany Telegram channel.

The SBI noted that he made a deal with the Russian side and actually persuaded the commander to surrender. Moreover, one of the commanders deceived 277 Ukrainian marines who did not realize that they were going to surrender.

“The military was misled, so they did not and could not realize the illegal nature of the order or the order to surrender,” the SBI said.

It is also specified that the file of the desertion of the personnel of the battalion was closed.
