Johnny Lee Miller, best known for playing Prime Minister John Major in The Crown, became a professional firefighter. The 50-year-old actor and ex-husband of Angelina Jolie announced an unexpected career turn to followers on social media.

“Today I graduated as a Level 1 firefighter after a five-month course at the Fire Academy in Suffolk (UK),” Johnny explained, then expressing his gratitude to the teachers of the institution. “I’m looking forward to joining the New York (Island) Fire Island service,” Miller added.

What prompted the actor to get into the fire business is unknown. He was married to Angelina Jolie from March 1996 to February 1999. In his second marriage to actress Michelle Hicks he became a father, the couple have a 14-year-old son, Buster Timothy. In addition to The Crown, Miller has had roles in films such as Trainspotting (1996), Dark Shadows (2012), The Interpreter (2023), and others.
