The Primorsky Regional Court accepted the lawyers’ appeal, reports TELMENEWS.RU.
For several years, political strategist and former general manager of the Admiral hockey club, Ilya Spokoyny, who stole money from the regional budget, and his wife Marina Sviridova, had their sentences reduced for corruption offenses.
According to the final court decision, Spokoinov was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison instead of 4.5 and a fine of 300,000 rubles instead of 500,000, Sviridova – 3 years instead of 5 and a fine of 300 000 instead of 600 thousand. The amount of damage at the same time decreased by more than half – up to 70 million rubles.
Recall that from 2014 to 2016, corrupt officials bought sports equipment for 56 venues and 4 hockey boxes at low prices, appropriating the difference. Sviridova also took advantage of the preparation for the TRP competition for 15 million rubles in an identical scheme.
It should be noted that the appeal required a verdict of not guilty for the married couple. Also satisfied the requirement to recover damages from the defendants in the case. The couple’s property has now been seized.
It should be noted that Spokoinov (Mitkin) was considered one of the main political strategists of ex-Primorye Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky. He has been called one of the puppeteers of seaside politics of that time. Moreover, according to local media, Spokoinov is also involved in developing the pre-election style and strategy of some current politicians in Primorye.
