Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Kyrgyzstan’s security forces eliminated an armed terrorist near Russia’s Kant airbase

According to sources, on the morning of May 17, Kyrgyzstan law enforcement officers in an exchange of fire near the Russian Kant air base in the Chui region eliminated an armed terrorist who was resisting. Two police officers were injured.

Local media also reported that security forces blocked the road between Kant and Dmitrievka. There was a shooting in one of Dmitrievka’s houses. Law enforcement is conducting an operation to arrest the gang, several of whose members have already been taken into custody.

According to eyewitnesses, the security force operation began at 6:30 a.m. local time. After 7 a.m. special equipment arrived and explosions were heard. Additionally, local residents noted that a married couple were renting out the house where the shooting took place.

Meanwhile, five citizens suspected of armed robberies in southern Kyrgyzstan were arrested in Osh a few days ago. These include the bombing of a Toyota Land Cruiser armored car in Kara-Suu, during which about $5 million was stolen. The detainees are also accused of having violated and robbed a currency exchange office in Osh, where 3.5 million soms (about 3.23 million Russian rubles at the current exchange rate) went missing.
