Palghar (Maharashtra). The accused, who was absconding for more than 14 years in the Palghar dacoity case of Maharashtra, has been arrested by the police from Satara district. Officials gave this information on Wednesday.
Rahul Rakh, senior inspector of Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar police, said that on August 21, 2008, some people entered a house in Virar area and took away gold ornaments worth Rs 17,000, besides thrashing the occupants with iron rods. Absconded.
He said that one of the accused was identified as Techar Bandya Kale. The police then registered a case of dacoity in this regard and started investigation. Later, provisions of the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) were also added against Kale and other accused. Police learned that Kale was involved in several other dacoity cases and was evading arrest.
The police investigation team took the help of technical and intelligence inputs and traced the whereabouts of Kale to Pusegaon village in Satara, where he was hiding, the police officer said. He said that the accused was nabbed on Monday.
