Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

After banning “Tik Tok”… a US state is fighting “Telegram”

On Wednesday, Montana Governor Greg Gianfort ordered a ban on the Chinese-owned app TikTok in the state, making it the first US state to block the app and prevent stores of mobile applications to provide it within its borders.

Gianforte, a Republican, wrote on his Twitter account, “To protect the personal and private data of Montana residents from the Chinese Communist Party, I have banned TikTok in Montana.”

But the app denies the charges against her.

However, the ban will extend to other apps.

Gianfort said in a document he posted on his official Twitter account that he was working to ban other apps such as the Russian-owned Telegram instant messaging app and the China-owned WeChat app.

And a Chinese company’s “Temio” shopping app in state government agencies.

He added that these candidacies are linked to “foreign opponents”.

And tech site “The Verge” said Montana state governor’s orders show he is targeting apps linked to China and Russia.

Gianforte accused the Russian government of using Telegram to monitor users and obtain personal, sensitive and confidential information.

But he did not provide proof of his remarks.

Telegram has repeatedly denied the spying allegations.

The new policy will go into effect in Montana on June 1.
