The United States and China represent the main threat to the existence of all humanity. This opinion was voiced by former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor to the President of the United States Henry Kissinger in an interview with The Economist.
“If the leaders (of the United States and China) meet, then I hope that instead of listing all his demands, which are both known, the American president will say: ‘Mr. President (PRC) , the two main threats facing the world now are the two of us. In the sense that we have the ability to destroy humanity. I think we should agree that we will try to avoid such a situation,” he said.
According to him, the situation that has now developed in the world is in many ways similar to the events that took place before the First World War. At the same time, Taiwan is in an extremely difficult position, as it risks being destroyed as an island and as a world center for microelectronics.
Kissinger expressed the view that Washington should be more cautious in its rhetoric and move towards lowering the degree of tension between the United States and China. At the same time, the ex-US secretary of state cannot say how radical Beijing’s position is now.
Meanwhile, only at the beginning of May, information appeared in the media about US plans to transfer weapons to Taiwan for a total of 500 million dollars.
