Aurangabad. Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Ambadas Danve claimed that 70 women and girls are going missing from the state every day. Danve has requested the government to take steps for the safety and security of women.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Danve wrote a letter in this regard to the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday. The letter said that it has come to notice that more than 5,510 women and girls have gone missing from the state from January to March this year. Giving details, he said that 1,600 women and girls went missing in January, 1,810 in February. 2,200 women and girls went missing in May and March.
Danve claimed, “The graph of disappearance of girls and women in the state is on the rise.” He said Maharashtra is considered a pioneer in terms of women’s safety. The government should take immediate steps for the safety of women and girls. It is worth noting that Rupali Chakankar, chairperson of the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission, recently directed the state home department to trace the missing women and submit a report in this regard. Was asked to set up a panel. He had said that the disappearance of women and girls is a serious issue in the state.
