NATO approves secret plans in case of confrontation with Russia

At the Vilnius summit on July 11-12, NATO will approve a plan to increase its military presence near Russia’s borders, as well as to strengthen the level of coordination between member states’ military departments and the collective command of the covenant. In addition, a plan will be presented to increase the combat readiness of NATO units in the event of a possible confrontation with the Russian Federation, reports RIA Novosti.

According to General Christopher Cavoli, Commander-in-Chief of NATO’s Allied Armed Forces in Europe, NATO has evolved from an alliance focused on carrying out special missions outside its area of responsibility to an alliance ready to “defend every inch of its territory.

“Our regional plans aim to protect specific NATO territories,” he said.

He noted that they combine the plans of the countries that are on the front line with the plans of the North Atlantic Alliance. According to Cavoli, this can optimize the ability to move forces “at the right time to the right place”.

Earlier, the head of the alliance’s military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, reported that NATO was creating the first post-Cold War defense plan in the event of an armed conflict with Russia in because of the unstable situation in the field of international security.
