Rafael Nadal withdraws from Roland Garros tournament due to body ailment

Rafael Nadal has withdrawn his name from the Roland Garros tournament. This is the first time since his debut in 2005 that Nadal will not be a part of this tournament. The 14-time champion told that his body is suffering these days and that is the reason why he has withdrawn his name from the tournament. He also said that he may take an indefinite break from tennis.

Nadal, who produced impressive performances on the court last year including victories at the Australian Open and Roland Garros, said physical problems have made his daily life difficult.

Last year, despite the challenging conditions of the Corona pandemic, Nadal once again won at Roland Garros. He won his 13th French Open title by defeating Casper Ruud in a thrilling championship match. The win not only extended his record for most titles won in a single Grand Slam tournament, but also tied him with Roger Federer for 20 Grand Slam titles.

He plans to take an indefinite break from tennis. There are speculations that he will be away from tennis for 2-4 years. In this time, he will work on his physical condition so that he can return to the field again after being fit for the 2024 season. Nadal has said that he will retire as a professional tennis player in 2024. Ronald Gares will be remembered for one of Nadal’s best tournaments. In this tournament, he has 14 titles in 18 appearances and a win rate of 97.4%.
