Istomin went to the NVO zone as a volunteer in May 2022 and died in the summer of the same year, although his relatives found out about this only a year later. He did not tell anyone about his intentions, and told his wife and relatives that he had left to work at a construction site.
“He just said that he went to work at a construction site for a while. He is a builder, he has golden hands, ”said Leyla Rasulova, chairman of the board of the Sverdlovsk student brigade. The funeral of Igor Istomin took place in Yekaterinburg on May 18, 2023.
