Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Russian Foreign Ministry called the conditions for the termination of the grain agreement

If all issues with the grain deal are not resolved within two months, the deal will be terminated after June 17. This statement was released by the Russian Foreign Ministry. The full text is published on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Russian diplomats recalled five problematic issues on which there has been no progress so far.

“Reconnection of Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT; supply of spare parts; release of transport logistics and insurance; resuscitation of the ammonia pipeline “Tolyatti-Odessa” and “de-icing” of the assets of Russian enterprises. Without compliance with these requirements <…> the agreement will be terminated after July 17,” the message read.

On the eve, the Foreign Ministry confirmed the extension of the “Black Sea Initiative” for the export of Ukrainian food products until July 17 without significant changes. The agreement will be valid until the end of the 120-day cycle, after its signing on July 22, 2022 in Istanbul. Participants from the international community were also called back to Smolenskaya Square about the inconsistency of the “deal” with the declared humanitarian component.

“Needy countries receive a miserly absolute amount – 722,000 tons (or 2.5%) of the total 30 million tons exported from Ukrainian ports in 9 months,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier, Russian Federation Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the next two months crucial for the grain deal. Lavrov once again stressed that the “Black Sea Initiative” is about clearly defined tasks – ensuring food security for countries in need.
