Chinese President Xi Jinping made an inspection tour of Shaanxi Province on May 17. In his speech, he said that Shaanxi Province should work hard to promote Chinese-style modernization and set an example in the western region of the country. With this, Shaanxi Province should make new progress in promoting technology self-reliance, modern industrial system, balanced development of cities and rural areas, high-level openness and protection of ecological environment, playing up its superiority by implementing the new development ideology.
Xi Jinping pointed out that Shaanxi Province should give priority to the development of the real economy on the basis of its industrial base and resources, while consolidating traditional excellent businesses and expanding to new areas. Xi Jinping pointed out that the most difficult task in building a modern socialist country and promoting common prosperity lies in rural areas. The gap between urban and rural areas has to be reduced. “Clean water and green mountains are invaluable assets.” Environmental protection should be done well through scientific research.
Xi Jinping pointed out that Shaanxi Province should actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative to expand opening up and play a greater role in connecting economic cycles at home and abroad. Xi Jinping pays attention to the protection of ecological and cultural relics in the Yellow River Basin. On May 16, on his way to Shaanxi, he also visited Yunchang City in Shaanxi Province and gave instructions on the protection and use of cultural relics.
