“In the framework of the peace treaty and on a number of articles that were discussed today, we have succeeded in bringing the two parties’ understanding closer to a common vision,” Lavrov said. He added that a bilateral meeting of diplomats from Baku and Yerevan has started, about the results of which they will inform at the end.
“We hope that this event will allow the ongoing negotiations between the Azerbaijani and Armenian ministers to lead to concrete results,” said the head of Russian diplomacy. He said Russia’s task was to provide the parties with a platform for negotiation.
The main issues on which it is necessary to find a common position for a long-term settlement of the conflict, Lavrov called the delimitation, the unblocking of transport and economic communications, as well as the practical provision of security in Karabakh.
Previously, the delegations of Armenia and Azerbaijan have already met in Washington and Brussels.
