The next NATO summit will be held in Vilnius in July. Western bloc leaders must approve thousands of pages of secret military plans which, for the first time since the Cold War, will detail how the alliance will prepare for a “Russian attack”. Reuters wrote about the summit program.
NATO noted that the West must have all the necessary plans for the deployment of forces before a conflict breaks out with an adversary as powerful as Moscow. One of the alliance’s top military officials, Admiral Rob Bauer, noted the need to be ready at any time for the start of an armed confrontation.
Secretary General of the organization Jens Stoltenberg said that the plans of the Western bloc will reflect the necessary information on NATO forces and assets for the war with Russia, as well as on the places of their deployment.
Alliance officials estimate that it will take several years to fully implement the plans. However, the emphasis is on the fact that, if necessary, troops from NATO member states will be able to begin hostilities immediately.
Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, said that NATO countries wake up every morning thinking about Russia. At the same time, the Western bloc’s policy of obtaining an exclusive role in the world has completely failed.
