Pentagon mistakenly overstated equipment transferred to Ukraine for $3 billion

The cost of military equipment supplied by the United States to the Ukrainian side was wrongly inflated by the Pentagon by $3 billion. These data are provided by Reuters, referring to senior officials of the US Department of Defense.

According to agency sources, the error was caused by assigning a higher value to weapons transferred to Kiev from US stockpiles.

“We found inconsistencies in how we assess the equipment we handed over to Kiev,” the source said.

The Pentagon representative also did not rule out that in the near future the exact number of overstated weapons, which will turn out to be even larger, may become clear. The US military department continues to “investigate the situation in depth”.

At the same time, the article indicates that this error could lead to new deliveries of American-made ammunition to the Ukrainian army.

A few days earlier, the Pentagon had confirmed that the Abrams tanks had indeed arrived in Germany for their further use in training the Ukrainian army.
