Dozens of companies from Russia, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan have fallen under US sanctions, as announced by the US Department of Commerce.
“The agency has expanded the list of export restrictions for 71 companies. They, as determined by the government, are acting contrary to the interests of U.S. national security and foreign policy,” RIA Novosti quotes a statement from the department.
The lion’s share of companies that have fallen under the restrictions are Russian. One each from Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. The Central Research Institute of Chemistry and Mechanics, the Kazan Gunpowder Factory, the Arzamas Instrument Factory and other companies that the United States claims support the military- industrial, are among those who have fallen out of favor with the US Treasury. .
Leading Russian educational institutions specializing in training personnel for natural resource extraction were also on the US sanctions list. Companies investing in the industry are also subject to restrictions.
