Virologist Altshtein announced the symptoms of encephalitis and borreliosis to the citizens of the Russian Federation

Virologist and doctor of medical sciences Anatoly Altshtein described the symptoms of borreliosis and encephalitis.

Encephalitis may present with an initial high fever and headache, especially if the person has been in areas where ticks are active for two weeks. This may raise suspicion for a possible case of encephalitis.

According to Altstein, it is not possible to self-diagnose the disease on the first day. It looks like a typical cold. In the following days, weakness in the arms, then legs, and neurological signs appear. This is definitely encephalitis, since it began to affect the functioning of the brain, transmits Public news service.

Borreliosis is characterized by characteristic redness around the bite site. Ignoring the disease is fraught with serious consequences.

Altstein advises starting antibiotics. But, in order not to guess and not risk your health, it is better to consult a doctor who will determine whether the tick that bit you was infected and tell you how to be treated.
