Kolkata. Bhanu Bagh, the main accused in an illegal firecracker factory blast case at Egra in East Medinipur district of West Bengal, died during treatment at a private nursing home in Odisha. A senior police officer gave this information on Friday.
The main accused in the blast case, Bhanu Bagh, was the owner of an illegal firecracker unit, and he died during treatment, suffering 70 per cent burns during Tuesday’s blast, the official said. In the late night around 2.40 am, the main accused died. His condition was critical as he had suffered 70 per cent burns.
Bagh had fled to neighboring Odisha soon after the blast and was undergoing treatment at a nursing home in Cuttack, from where he was arrested by the West Bengal CID (Crime Investigation Department) in the early hours of Thursday. The CID arrested the accused along with his son and nephew. The official had said that the condition of the main accused in the case was “so critical” that the CID could not bring him back to West Bengal, but made arrangements for close monitoring outside the nursing home. Nine people were killed and four others were injured in a blast at an illegal firecracker factory owned by Bagh on Tuesday afternoon.
