Thiruvananthapuram. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala on Saturday released an advertisement referring to the title of the controversial film ‘The Kerala Story’ to mark the completion of two years of its government, claiming that the state will continue to maintain social harmony and progressive values under its rule. Celebrating ‘The Real Kerala Story’.
Posting an advertisement published in leading national dailies, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted that by adopting social justice, his government has brought inclusive development that empowers all. The Chief Minister wrote, “On the second anniversary of the Government of Kerala, we Let’s celebrate ‘The Real Kerala Story’, where dreams flourish and humanity thrives.
“The Hindi film ‘The Kerala Story’, which has been shown nationwide recently, is accused of showing a negative image of Kerala. In the advertisement ‘The Real Kerala Story’, the government has described Kerala as “a diamond in the crown of India” and A beacon of progressive ideals”. The ad depicts people from different sections of the society including farmers, health care workers, transgenders along with Chief Minister Vijayan’s picture.
Refuting the allegations of its critics, the government also claimed in the advertisement that compassion and social justice drive the Left government’s policies, empowering marginalized communities and creating equal opportunities for all. The page’s colorful advertisement highlights the achievements of the LDF government in the last two years. It also claimed that the southern state has emerged as an example of “people-centred progress” and a “distinctive model of inclusive development”.
The advertisement said Kerala has made remarkable achievements in sustainable development, innovation, health care, tourism and other sectors under the Left government. Meanwhile, various programs were organized in the state on Saturday to mark the second anniversary of the Vijayan government. However, the opposition has launched demonstrations against alleged misgovernance and corruption under the Left government. Hundreds of workers of the opposition Congress-led UDF laid siege to the state secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also organized various protests.
