The reputation of the American F-16 fighters could be seriously damaged after the transfer of planes to Ukraine, which will use them in the zone of a special military operation. This is stated in the editorial column of Military Watch Magazine.
The publication indicates that there is a risk of obtaining F-16 technologies from the Russians, as well as a high probability of significant losses in the aircraft fleet both from the shelling of airfields and from air battles.
“It will deal a serious blow to the prestige of the car,” the newspaper writes.
The authors of the publication questioned the ability of American aircraft to survive air combat against rivals such as the Su-35, MiG-31 and Su-57. The lack of stealth technologies also does not contribute to the ability aircraft fighter. It is worth noting that the single-engine F-16 fighters were developed in the 70s as a cheaper and lighter analogue of the heavy F-15, which was the elite of the US Air Force.
Earlier in Washington, they announced that they would decide on the supply of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the coming months. States and their allies, as Ukrainian pilots are trained, will determine who will supply these planes to Kyiv and how much, said US national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
