Globally, when we talk about development-oriented countries, then the names of these two countries, China and India, come first. Along with being neighbors, both the countries have many more similarities. Both these fast emerging economies of Asia have their own distinct identity on the global stage as well. Although China is different from the whole world, but there are many similarities between China and India. Both China and India are neighboring countries of each other. There are many differences between the two, despite so many differences, you will be surprised to know that there are many things in common between India and China. Due to being connected in the geographical area, there has been a movement of people between India and China for a long time, due to which living conditions or culture kept coming in both the countries. Let us know what are the similarities between these countries with different civilization and culture-

The time of independence of both the countries is almost same-

China, which is today leaving America behind in terms of becoming a super power, was once bound in the shackles of slavery and was liberated along with India. Just as India was a slave of British rule for years, in the same way China was also a slave of Japan. India got independence in the year 1947, while in the year 1949, on 1 October, China also became independent. India and China started the journey of independence almost simultaneously, but China started working very fast towards the development of the country, and today is going to establish itself as the largest economy.

The attachment of both the countries towards Yoga –

Undoubtedly, India has introduced the world to the science of yoga, but China’s special attachment towards yoga is well known. It would not be wrong to say that there are more people practicing yoga in China than in India. This is the reason why most of the youth having the educational qualification of Yoga choose China as their career field.

Buddhism is spread in both the countries –

Buddhism originated in the eastern part of ancient India, it is believed that Buddhism originated from Bodh Gaya in India and is one of the oldest religions today. The religion is widespread in Central, East and Southeast Asia and the northeastern region of the Indian subcontinent.

After this, gradually this religion reached different parts of the world. China was also one of those countries. Today, the number of followers of Buddhism in China is very high. Many places and statues related to Buddhism are found in both India and China.

Historical civilizations are found in both countries-

Both India and China are also known for their historical civilizations. India, where the ancient civilization of its Harappa and Mohenjodaro can be seen, China started many famous civilizations. Both ancient China and ancient India considered religion very important. The main religions of China were Confucianism, Taoism, and Legalism. The central religions in India were Hinduism and Buddhism. Both ancient China and India had religious teachers who invented these popular religions.

population-

India has now become the most populous country in the world. According to ‘The State of World Population Report 2023’ of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the population of India has increased to 1,428.6 million i.e. 142.86 crore, while the population of China is 1,425.7 million i.e. 142.57 crore. There is a difference of only 29 lakhs in the population of both the countries.

India and China have to understand that the future will belong to Asia. According to one figure, Asia’s share in the global economy is expected to be around 50% in the coming times. In such a situation, any kind of tension and mutual animosity in this area will only harm the development and growth. India and China, the biggest powers in the region, will have to play an important role in improving this situation. The relationship between these two countries has become so vast that it has acquired global dimensions.
