The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the situation with a possible American default

The United States is like the “kingdom of distorted mirrors”, because everyone knows that the state spends more than it earns. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, speaking of a possible default in the United States.

“Kingdom of twisted mirrors. Everyone understands that the United States spends more than it earns, that the whole banquet is provided only by the presence of a printing press and military bases around the world, and the American presidents recognize that default is not an economic indicator, but a political one,” Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

Recall that during a press conference at the G7 summit, US President Joe Biden said that Washington had never defaulted on its debts and had no intention of doing so.

In early May, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned of the risk of exhaustion of the country’s emergency measures due to the reaching of the public debt ceiling.
